About Laboratory Testing

Laboratory testing following your initial consultation can be useful to provide further findings to support your bone health.

The laboratory provides tests using different  methods such as: urine/finger prick/salvia/breath tests.

The testing we use will help us to gain a more thorough understanding of your health status and as a result we may gain an insight in order for us to prescribe accordingly to support your current health issues.

Bone Turnover Tests

C-Terminal Telopeptide (CTX) serum test with the Phlebotomist

€145

(Bone resorption that quickens post menopause)

FASTING FROM MIDNIGHT

As we become older, the rate of bone turnover increases. As a consequence of this increase, the amount of bone that is removed often exceeds the amount that is formed. This imbalance leads to bone loss as part of the normal aging process, and may lead to osteoporosis making an individual more at risk of fracture.

Procollagen type 1 amino-terminal propeptide (P1NP) serum test with the Phlebotomist

€145

(Bone formation that slows up as we age)

As we become older, the rate of bone turnover increases. As a consequence of this increase, the amount of bone that is removed often exceeds the amount that is formed. This imbalance leads to bone loss as part of the normal aging process, and may lead to osteoporosis making an individual more at risk of fracture.

N-terminal Telopeptide (NTx)- urine test

€130

(can be done at home)

measures units from bone excreted in the urine and can indicate increased bone resorption or break down. This test can let you know if your bone loss is ongoing or if you have lost this bone in the past and have now stabilized.

Inflammation

TEST – C-Reactive Protein – High Sensitivity (hsCRP)

€35

Vitamins/minerals

Vitamin D -(finger prick)

€55

(Can be done at home)

Urine Mineral Screen -measures metabolism levels of Magnesium (24 hour)

€50

(Can be done at home)

Zinc (End of evening)

€75

(can be done at home)

Calcium (24 hour)

€50

(Can be done at home)

Omega 3 Basic Testing Omega 3 level- (finger prick)

€55

(Can be done at home)

Omega 3 Plus Testing Omega 3/Omega 6/Omega 9 (AA-EPA) Trans Fats levels- (finger prick)

€85

(can be done at home)

Both omega tests are important for: Bone formation (Osteoblastic activity that slows down as we age) Cholesterol levels/Memory/ Anti-Inflammatory/For every cell in your body

Hormones

CORT Cortisol – Serum

€35

serum test with the Phlebotomist

DHEA Dehydroepiandrosterone – Serum

€90

serum test with the Phlebotomist

OESTR Oestradiol – Serum

€35

Low levels can indicate an increase risk of spinal/hip fracture serum test with the Phlebotomist

PROG Progesterone –Serum

€35

serum test with the Phlebotomist

Progesterone helps alleviate menopause symptoms such as hot flashes, tender breasts, and fatigue. Similarly to estrogen, progesterone also plays an important role in the health of women after their menstruating years. It is easy for postmenopausal women to become progesterone deficient, a state whose symptoms can be confused with those of low estrogen levels and include weight gain, memory loss, and allergies.
