What is vitamin D3 good for?
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that helps your body absorbs Calcium and Phosphorus. Having the right amount of
Vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus are important for building and keeping
STRONG BONES.
Vitamin D cannot be used if you don’t have enough magnesium in your system but be careful of what magnesium you choose as there as many different types therefore you need to take a magnesium supplement that is suitable for you as well as how much you should take daily and when to take it. The problem with magnesium in the diet is that it can be depleted during the processing of food; it can also be used up during STRESS hence the reason for testing.
Calcium as you know is vital for Bone Health but to have good absorption of calcium, you need to have enough Vitamin D. So without sufficient levels of Vitamin D, you may be at risk of reduced levels of the hormone calcitrol which stimulates the absorption of calcium levels hence the reason for testing.
Phosphate is a chemical that contains the mineral phosphorus. Phosphates are essential for the production of muscle & nerve function and bone growth. Too much phosphate may also cause low levels of certain minerals supportive of bone health hence the reason for testing.
Exercise is vital for Bone Health
But our bones are not the only parts of our bodies that rely on enough vitamin D.
Lack of vitamin D has also been linked to muscle weakness & fatigue. Studies have shown that vitamin D deficiency can contribute to an impaired immune system.
This is why it’s important to test for low levels of:
- Vitamin D
- Calcium
- Magnesium
- Phosphate,
These tests are available at my clinic or they can be posted to you. Do contact me for further advice on testing.
